San Antonio Vacation

We took a short weekend trip to visit our old stomping grounds in San Antonio. I wish we could have visited with more friends while we were there, but we just didn't have a ton of time. Our concentrated days were spent eating out at some of our favorite places and swimming at the Westin resort pool. Kyler went down the water slide several dozen times; some with variations of trains with Jamie, some without. Kennan was too young to go by herself but went down with Jamie a few times. We started our Saturday eating at Krispy Cream Donuts (quite possibly my favorite part of the whole day) and then headed to the Children's Museum, which Kyler remembered from over a year ago and wanted to visit again. We headed to the Pearl Brewery Complex and Kyler climbed around on a train. We then met up with Ray and Vanessa at La Gloria restaurant and had some authentic "Mexican street fare," which doesn't sound great, but was a really fun and yummy spot. Would have been even more fun if I could have partaken in the margaritas or sangria beverages. Oh well! Maybe next year!
At the end of the day the kids ate cupcakes (thanks Ray & Vanessa) while watching the Fiesta Texas firework display off our balcony. I don't know what it is but I have never been so beyond exhausted. Actually, maybe its the extra 15 lbs of baby I am carrying. I could not have gone another day on "vacation." Little did I know, I would spent the next few days laying around the house recovering!

MMM...donuts!

Fishing At Neches River July 2013

Here are some shots of the kids fishing in the Neches River over the July 4th holiday. Papa Hood, Uncle Tim Hood, Uncle Jeremy, Jamie, me, and the kids participated. Unfortunately, instead of catching fish, we wound up feeding fish shrimp for lunch. Not a one was caught today.

Love this one!

Fun at Nutty Jerry's

The next day we took the kids to an indoor amusement park called Nutty Jerry's in nearby Winnie. This place was amazing! It had rides and bouncy house slides/obstacle courses that were perfect for the under 10 year old age group. There was even a small (but fast) roller coaster that both Kyler AND Kennan rode for the very first time. I think Kennan was definitely motivated to go on more rides and be more daring because Kyler was there to go on them with her.
