Kyler's First Soccer Game

Kyler had his first soccer game and it was a double header. He was really great and scored three goals! The kids on his team were amazing and some kids on other teams play DIRTY!!! Looking at some of the pictures taken with the long lens you can really see some mean kids playing dirty (pulling shirts, pushing, holding kids back). My guess is that they are too young to understand the rules of sportsmanship?? It was hard to watch some of the little ones falling down and getting trampled. Some of the kids would fall on the ball and just get kicked (guess that should teach them not to fall on the ball as a strategy!). I think Kyler already likes soccer better than tball.. one, because it is easier to understand, and two, has WAY more action! Kyler loves just running, and he really has fun kicking the ball back and forth to the other kids during practice. It is nice seeing him succeed at something like this! Thanks Uncle Brian for helping manage these double headers while Jamie was out of town. He took all of these shots, carried the cooler (of course we had the snack this week), chairs, and sat in the pouring rain with us. It is truly a God thing that you are living in Denton (30 minutes from us)  right now!!!

American Girl Doll Store Visit

It was grandma's idea to bring Kennan down to the American Girl doll store in the Galleria to pick out a birthday present. She brought her own Bitty Baby to push around in strollers and place in cribs, etc. We then ate in the bistro upstairs. How did we spend almost three hours there? Wow. Kennan really cleaned house. Thanks Grandma!

Kennan's Fairy and Pirates Party

We hosted our first primarily non-family birthday party at our house for Kennan's third birthday. The theme was fairies and pirates. Fairies, because I wanted to do something other than princesses, and there was a really cute Tinker Bell bounce house we rented. I chose to include pirates (because of Captain Hook mainly) because we had an almost equal number of boys to girls. Boy did I WAAAAYYY underestimate the cost and effort, and if you attended this party, congratulations because it was both our first and our last. Everyone knows this basic fact, but I guess I just needed to experience it for myself. Here are some phrases for you: 18 kids ages 3 to 5 and their parents, 101 degree heat, 8 months pregnant. Don't get me wrong, after three months of planning and "Pinteresting" I was ready for it and overall, it was a blast! My amazing friends who brought their litttle ones are so much fun, and we all had so many good laughs. We are blessed to have such great friends surrounding us here, so I am truly grateful everyone attended.

God sent three AMAZING family members to save me and help me through the weekend: cousin Jenny, Brian, and my saint of a mom.  We spent one entire day setting up decorations and running quick errands. On party day, we utilized every second of the day cutting and skewering fruit, mixing lemonade, making treats, popping corks, setting up balloons, obtaining the cake, and then the guests started to arrive.  I didn't realize how difficult it was to "host" (refill wine bottles and food/ getting more tattoo & face paint supplies/ showing people to the bathroom) while trying to greet people at the door. It was like I was moving all over the house at 30 mph. There are no words to describe my level of gratitude. This magnitude of a party would not have happened (even with all my own prep over the past three months) if my family members had not come to the rescue.

Kennan wore a specially ordered Tinker Bell tutu dress, and my mom and Jenny dressed her and did her hair while I finished showering and dressing. Kennan looked adorable. After bouncing in the bounce house, getting her face painted, eating cupcakes, cake, and marshmallows, she actually looked like a scary crazy woman in a Lifetime drama. Overall, the kids really had fun I think and hopefully, some great memories were made
