Gift Status

I was thinking coal, but the elves have told me Kyler is getting the Cars movie (Aunt Leeza) and Toy Story (Aunt Vanessa). He is also getting the Thomas the Train travel set (Grandma Roth). Aunt Vanessa/Uncle Ray also will be getting Kennan Beauty and the Beast since it is out of the vault this year (so smart to think of this!). I am going to be starting a collection of the Disney Snow globes from the Disney store for Kennan, so if you are wanting to get her a gift, this is an idea. I am not sure which globes are out right now, or if they even have any, but I am most interested in the traditional ones such as Beauty and the Beast, Cinderella, etc. We have Snow White. Also, I would love to get her an activity bar for her infant carrier. I don't know why I never thought to get this for Kyler when he was little. It probably would have made car rides a little more bearable.
I will try to update you as we get closer if I hear of any more gifts. Thank you so much!!!!
Some clothing needs for Kennan: 6-9 month 100% cotton footed Pjs (snaps or zipper), and a large wearable blanket/sleeper sac. Kyler needs 2 regular sweat shirts in 4T (pull over, not zippered), and 100% cotton footed zipper pjs in 4T (these are really hard to find). Just make sure you read the label b/c Carter's brand has Polyester PJs that feel like cotton but aren't.
Again, thanks so much and can't wait to see you all at Christmas!

Kyler Shares His Cars

Kennan is finally in her Bumbo seat! She really likes looking at the toys we put in front of her. I am not too sure what she thought of Kyler's cars though!

Grandma Roth with Kennan 11/17

Grandma Roth has been flying in to help us pretty often. We are so lucky!! Here is a snap shot of Kennan talking and cooing to her. Please disregard the plastic baseball bat on the mantel. I am sure you can imagine why it is being kept up there.

Watching Mobile

She is in awe every time I put her in her swing!

Hands

Here is Patricia Walton's poem "Hands" that was read at our wedding.

A good marriage is a lifetime of hands.
It's a shaking hand sliding a shiny gold band onto the finger
of another shaking hand. ..
It's hands touching in sudden tenderness, or swinging together
down a crowded street, or fingers interlocking in the darkness
of a theater.

It's expressive hands: the playful pat. ..the beckoning waves. ..the "Help me please" gesture. ..
It's two ecstatic hands being grasped by tiny brand new hands,
It's hurrying hands setting dinner for hungry hands. ..
It's a proud hand introducing an embarrassed hand. ..
It's healthy hands holding sick hands.
It's hands joining in prayer.
And finally, it's a shaking hand sliding a dull gold band off
the finger of a very still hand

I can't believe we're here already. Next is death. Just kidding. This poem is so beautiful though. It just brings tears to my eyes, not to mention chills. Thank you Gen and Ryan Yeley for sharing waaaaaay back in the day!!

Kyler's School Picture 2010

If I had known it would be a full body shot, I would have dressed him better. I was thinking of the typical school picture from the chest up and the blue background. Once again, he looks very serious.

Halloween 2010

It was a very, very LONG day for all of us. Kyler started the morning going golf cart riding around the grounds at the La Cantera Westin where my parents stayed the previous night (they got upgraded to a Casita!). I spent several hours trying to get him to nap b/c he was so tired once they got back. After a run around the block he still wasn't going to nap and I gave up. Time to put costumes on for the neighborhood costume parade. Kyler was a puppy dog and Kennan was a lady bug (just for a few minutes, as she hated it). It was very hot and I was worried about Kyler over heating in his dog suit. He did great though and Jamie pulled him in the red wagon along the parade route. We had an hour to burn before we needed to leave for a neighbor friend's block party, complete with cookies galore and a bounce house. Once there, Kyler had a blast with the other kids and chasing around a cat, which was adorable in his puppy suit. I should have You Tubed it. Oh well. Meanwhile, Grandma Roth, Aunt Jeanne, Uncle Mike, and Grandpa Roth passed out Halloween candy to the thousands of neighborhood kids (and bussed in non-neighborhood kids). It was exhausting, but successful! Thanks everyone for visiting and helping so much.

Grandpa Roth's Birthday

Grandma and Grandpa Roth, Aunt Jeanne, and Uncle Mike came into town for a visit. It was Grandpa Roth's birthday so we celebrated with cake. It is actually on Halloween but we celebrated a day early. Then we carved our first Hood family Jack-O-Lantern. It was Kennan's usual crying time (from 3pm to 11pm) so it was nice having some extra arms to attempt to comfort her. She doesn't actually cry that whole time, just some of that time she is really cranky.

Got Candy?

Kennan wore this adorable onsie a bunch this Halloween weekend because it was so hot outside! It was very soft and stretchy.

Kennan at One Month

Hmm...tomboy to be? Thank you Leeza for the cute tutu and iron-on onsie idea. Not sure she is a fan of the tutu, but hopefully she will come around!
