First Time Eating Pizza and Riding a Carousel

Uncle Brian is in town visiting before he has to go back to school on Monday (in his senior year of high school!) so we went out to eat at CA Pizza Kitchen. I ordered Kyler a cheese pizza off of the kids menu, and he ate practically the WHOLE thing! Afterward, we went into the mall, and he rode on the carousel. He is into horses right now so he absolutely loved it!

First Time Seeing the Ocean

Here is a picture of Kyler viewing the ocean for the very first time. We were at the Kimah boardwalk the same weekend of his first birthday bash at the Roth house (Aug. 1st). Sorry, the events have been posted out of order on this blog. We had planned on going to the big aquarium in Galveston that day, but we had a little trouble getting Kyler to take a nap back at the hotel, which threw our day COMPLETELY off schedule. So, we scrapped Galveston and went to eat at the Aquarium restaurant in Kemah...Kyler still got to see an aquarium and we ate dinner at the same time! It was a really fun time!

Kyler's Birthday Party Finale (at the Hoods')

I am pretty sure most kids don't have three parties but I guess the first year for the first grandchild on both sides is pretty special. Grandma Hood hosted the third party for Kyler. He was still a little under the weather and extremely tired but still had a blast opening gifts! He didn't eat any cake this time, as I ate his piece :)but hey, I snapped a pic before I ate it. It was too delicious to have him smash it all over the place. Thanks, family and friends, for making these parties extra special for little Kyler!!

The Second Party ( at Our House)!

Of course we had to have cake at our house on his actual birthday!Poor baby was sick though. He caught Jamie's terrible cold and had a low grade fever that morning with a runny nose. Poor thing! I think he has taken it better than Jamie did though! Haha!

One Year Old Today!

We can't believe he is one already! One year ago today I was awoken at 1:00 AM by hearing and feeling a "pop" as my water broke. We got to the hospital and by 5:30 was holding him. We are blessed with such a sweet natured, happy baby! Thanks to the Lord up above!
Now, this little man does enjoy being photographed if it is done quickly. It has gotten harder and harder to get him to sit still with the bear though. My little cousin came up to babysit and celebrate his birthday with us and she was exhausted trying to get him to sit.

Kyler's First 1st Birthday Bash!

At Kyler's first 1st birthday party, in Kingwood, I think he was completely exhausted and sleep deprived from the weekend's festivities in Houston and Clear Lake, so his happy disposition did not shine that day. I think we would have seen more smiles and gleeful screams than we actually observed. Nonetheless, he opened some wonderful gifts and then attempted to eat a piece of cake. He didn't seem to know what to do with the gooey piece of strawberry shortcake placed in front of him. After his cousin Charlie showed him what to do, he finally started to eat it in a relatively clean manner (well, cleaner than I expected).

Kyler's Birthday Wishlist

Here are some items that I can think of that Kyler would love for his birthday. Kyler loves to shake things, including his little Learning Table phone that sounds kind of like a maraca. Here is the link on Amazon... www.amazon.com/LeapFrog-Learn-Groove-Counting-Maracas/dp/B000ETREN8
He seems to love basketball and is quite tall for his age..so afigured a basketball hoop would be great for him. Both Fisher Price and Playschool have a toddler size that grows with him. Second, one of the best and cheapest items I have found that I would like Kyler to have include the Sassy brand bath letters/numbers that stick to the wall of the tub. I think Sassy also has space ships and other transportation shapes to play with in or out of the tub. This should also come with a net but if you think we need something to secure the items in the bath area (like the frog pod seen at the top) than we can get that too. Third, Kyler seems interested in trains, like most boys. I am going to wait another year before getting him an actual set b/c of the many pieces. I think he would enjoy a few Thomas trains with connecting train cars though. Some other items include the classic corn popper push toy, Elmo Live, and this cool snail toy that we saw at a friend's house that he liked playing with. Just let me know if/when you purchase any of these so we don't get double gifts! Thanks family!

Kyler's B-day Wishlist

I am going to post some pictures of some toys that we think will be great for Kyler if you are thinking about getting him a gift for his B-day (obviously, this is just for the relatives who read our blog). If you have something else in mind also, no worries. These are just suggestions that we put some thought into. Pictures to come soon (as soon as I can make it to the stores to take pictures)!

Fourth of July

No parade in Frisco. There was a festival type thing though. It was beyond hot..more like a furnace or surface of the sun type feeling. We did not stay long. Fireworks were to begin at 9:50 (actually started at 10:15) but we did not stay for those. Kyler was fast asleep in his crib by that point. Kyler got to see some clowns and firetrucks before we left. The pictures show his very first views of clowns ever, although we are still not even sure he noticed the clowns since he was captivated by the firetruck and ambulance lights the whole time. Oh, he also saw a cow in person for the first time too..Borden milk had Elsie there for the kids. I didn't get a pic of that, but he was really interested in touching her fur.
Pictured at the top is Claire, Kyler's current girlfriend. He was glad he got to see her there also before we left.

Jamie's New Toy

Yup, he splurged again. This is something that can be passed down to Kyler eventually, so I insisted he get the "Lexus" of the group. I don't want to mention the type, as it may become illegal again under Obama. The first time in recent years was under Clinton. Jamie plans to bling it out with a flash light and laser sight. Watch out burglars! Ironically, this may be the only thing they try to steal in our house, since we don't have anything worth stealing (except maybe our TV).

Hot Air Balloon Glow with the Yeleys

We were so grateful to have our old friends, Ryan and Genevieve, and their 14 month old daughter, Celeste, visit us last weekend. They came in on Friday and we went to eat at Babes. Then we headed over to Old Celina Park to watch the hot air balloons. It was pushing the limit for both babies, as they weren't used to staying up that late; however, it was a real treat for all of us (and FREE to boot!). The last picture is of Kyler riding home in the car with his personal balloon.
